SHOU SUGI BAN
The charred red oak finish uses the Japanese technique, Shou Sugi Ban. This finish is achieved by torching the wood to create a dark, black appearance and then sealed.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE
SHOU SUGI BAN FINISH
The shou sugi ban finish on this lamp is sealed with boiled linseed oil. While it does a good job of keeping the charred finish off your hands and clothes, it’s possible to leave marks when rubbed against rough surfaces such as a wall. The purpose of the wall protector is to prevent such marks from being made.
In the event a mark is made, we recommend using a Mr. Clean brand Magic Eraser per the manufacturer’s instructions to remove the mark.
Leave the wall protector in place unless installing the optional wall mount or corner mount. If installing one of these mounts, remove the wall protector. It will come off easily with a small amount of force.
The wall protector can be removed by gently pulling.
